Hygiene Basic Protocols

We go by the 20/20/20 rule when running out recare patient appointments

20 minutes for assessment

20 minutes for the cleaning

20 minutes for OHI, fluoride, etc.

Ensure patient is comfortable.

Show massage chair, offer nitrous, numbing agents, blanket/pillow.

Verify date of birth
-
Review updated health history, allergies, and medications

Take blood pressure at the beginning of every appt

K&A standard is that blood pressure is taken for all appointments

Take x-rays as needed
-
All potential crowns should have a PA and a intra-oral image
-
Any teeth that are hurting should have a PA
-

Take itero scan as needed
-
We take an itero at every new patient appointment and once a year on all patients

Make sure you review the scan with the patient. Pointing out areas of heavy occlusion, recession and change from the prior scan.

Perform oral cancer screening at every recall appointment

Update restorative and periodontal charting as needed

Cavitron, Scale, polish, and floss

OHI
-
Doctor exam as needed

Make follow up appointment or take to front desk

It is the responsibility of the hygienist to make the hygiene recall appointment.

Offer relevant treatments: Fluoride, Cervitec Plus, Cervitec F, LBR, MI Paste, etc.

K&A Hygiene Standards
Pano take every 5 years starting at age 6* 4 Bitewings + 6 pa take 1 time per year*
Starting at age 13 all patients will have a CT taken. This will be repeated every 2 years until the teeth are ready for extraction. This replaces a pano that is due.
iTero scan take 1 time per year starting at age 13* Periodontal charting update each visit, one time a year every patient will need full charting starting at age 18* Doctor exam 2 times per year*
**Standard is for patient who do not present with additional symptoms that require additional diagnostics or an exam.**
